For the Maumee River...including Fort Wayne...Minor flooding is forecast. For the Saint Joseph River Ohio...including Newville, St. Joe River Ft. Wayne...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Maumee River at Fort Wayne. * WHEN...Until late Sunday morning. * IMPACTS...At 19.0 feet, The city of Fort Wayne launches 24-hour flood fight. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:55 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 17.8 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 7:55 AM EDT Thursday was 17.9 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 18.6 feet tomorrow morning. Freezing rain is a condition where precipitation which has fallen in the form of
water droplets reaches temperatures which are below freezing and freezes upon
coming into contact
with surface objects. The result of this precipitation is a glaze of ice which
can be damaging to plants and man-made structures. A severe onset of freezing
rain which results in a very thick glaze of ice is known as an ice storm.

Hail is a form of precipitation which is recognized by large solid balls or
clumps of ice. Hail is created by thunderstorm clouds with strong updrafts of wind.
