Flash Flood Warning issued August 25 at 6:25PM MST until August 25 at 9:30PM MST by NWS Phoenix AZ
AREAS AFFECTED: Yuma, AZ
DESCRIPTION: At 625 PM MST, trained weather spotters reported that Avenue 39 near Highway 80 has been washed out due to flash flooding from thunderstorms. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Trained spotters reported. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Tacna, Tyson and Roll. This includes AZ Interstate 8 between mile markers 34 and 43. This includes the following streams and drainages... Mohawk Wash, Gila River and Big Eye Wash.
INSTRUCTION: Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.

Cirrocumulus clouds form at high altitudes (usually around 5 km)
and have distinguishing characteristics displayed in a fine layer of
small cloud patches. These small cloud patches are sometimes referred to as
"cloudlets" in relation to the whole cloud formation.
Cirrocumulus clouds are formed from ice crystals and water droplets. Often, the
water droplets in the cloud freeze into ice crystals and the cloud becomes a
cirrostratus cloud. Because of this common occurrence, cirrocumulus cloud
formations generally pass rapidly.
